Job Title: Assistant Manager

Reports To: General Manager

Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager at Shipley Do-Nuts plays a critical role in supporting the General Manager with daily store operations, ensuring outstanding customer service, maintaining high product quality, and managing team performance. This role requires a strong leader who is passionate about creating a positive work environment while driving operational excellence and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily store operations to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Monitor product quality, food safety, and cleanliness standards in accordance with Shipley Do-Nuts policies.
  • Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure product availability to meet customer demand.
  • Open and close the store as needed, following proper security and operational procedures.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead by example, fostering a positive, team-oriented culture.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and developing team members to meet performance standards.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to employees, addressing any performance issues promptly.
  • Ensure staff compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Customer Service Excellence:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by promoting a welcoming and friendly environment.
  • Resolve customer complaints and ensure customer satisfaction by addressing concerns effectively.
  • Encourage and empower team members to provide high-quality service at all times.

Sales & Profitability:

  • Support efforts to meet or exceed sales goals by promoting upselling and cross-selling.
  • Monitor labor costs, food costs, and other expenses to maintain profitability.
  • Analyze store performance and assist in implementing strategies to improve sales and reduce waste.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Enforce adherence to Shipley Do-Nuts brand standards and operational policies.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records, including cash handling, employee schedules, and inventory reports.

Qualifications:

✔️ High school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred).

✔️ 1-2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably in the food service or hospitality industry.

✔️ Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

✔️ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

✔️ Ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.

✔️ Basic knowledge of inventory management and cost control principles.

✔️ Proficiency in basic computer skills and POS systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
